#Hello From London ! ! !

‘You Right?!’….’You Ok?!’…..

I’ve lived in London for 3 months now and I still cannot figure this out, are people are actually asking me if I am alright? If I am ok?…. Or is this the same as an Australian ‘How’s it goin?!’… Sometimes you are genuinely asking someone ‘How are you going?’….Other times, say when you’re greeting the check out chick, it’s just saying an extended version of ‘Hello’, no need to respond with how you are actually going …. So there is me saying back to all these pomie ‘You ok’s?!’ with ‘Good thanks, how are you?’… Wondering why some people just keep on walking and others look rather confused as they slowly reply ‘Ah yeah alright’…. I have even asked people from the UK what is the right response here?…. They respond with ‘You Right?!’…..I’m still confused…. What really makes me laugh though is I joined a dating website… something about lots of fishing (Will explain this later)….. and guys actually write to me ‘You ok’…. No question mark?….. Are you asking me or telling me?….. This is not helping! So I’ve decided as long as I still have an Aussie accent where ‘You alright’ just does not feel alright, well not for me…. ‘How’s it goin?!’ and ‘Good thanks, you?’… will be my go-too options, that way I’m covered for whatever it means!
